- Douay-Rheims Bible
- The Holy Bible, Douay-Rheims American Edition of 1899 (Challoner’s revision), translated from the Latin Vulgate. Public domain. Text courtesy of eBible.org, with slips in its transcription put right.
How the app shows them
- A card holds only a reference. The words always come from the Bible text you chose, so a card cannot misquote it.
- The three Catholic texts have all 73 books. Psalms and a few other passages are numbered differently there; the app shows each Bible’s own numbering.
- A psalm’s title is shown as a heading above the psalm, not as part of its first verse.
- In the Berean Standard Bible and the Catholic Public Domain Version, when one verse of a longer speech stands alone on a card, a quotation mark left without its pair is given it. The Bible reader shows every text exactly as it is printed.
- The two World English Bibles are shown unchanged everywhere.
Why only these
Most modern translations belong to publishers and may be used only under licence. We chose texts that belong to everyone, so that reading Scripture in Her Scroll is free, always, for every reader.
